Newbies

I know that I once was a newbie...at least I had played online for 7 months before I played a live game. Tonight, three women played in the women's tournament, and only one had ever played poker before. I did enjoy explaining the game as we played...it did take us half an hour to deal around once, though. And for some of us regulars, it was excruciatingly slow.

Unbelievably, one of the women that had never played before ended up coming in second! Talk about beginner's luck!

Again, tonight, I was able to see how different distractions can interfere with how I am able to focus on my cards, and the other players around me. It also was an exaggeration of how the skill level of the people at the table can influence the play at the table. Valid points nevertheless.
